The Love
Affair With Cats
Cats? Cats? Noooo,
I don't do cats! It was always the same answer when my hubby kept asking
for a cat. Phil had owned cats when he was younger and in our 20year +
marriage I had lost count of the times he had threatened to get a cat.
Finally the kids made it pretty obvious that I was been a selfish, mean,
unkind person and that I should buy Phil a cat. It all came about after he
asked Santa and he didn't bring him one either!! <lolol> So, finally guilt
got the better of me and in the month of January I set off looking for him
a kitten. How was I to know that moggies didn't breed in the cold hardly?
After a bit of
searching I found Puzzle, over ten times the price I'd expected to pay for
a cat, off we went to meet him, purse in hand. That as they say was the
start of the slippery slope to my love affair with cats. Now I definitely
do do cats and I couldn't imagine life without them. They have brought so
much fun and laughter into the house, hardly a day goes by when they don't
do something whacky, they are a real tonic.
Meet our cats over
the following pages Puzzle, who was our introduction
to the cat world, thank heavens for Puzzle! Lacey our Norwegian Forest Cat
or Wegie, not forgetting our pride of Maine Coons, Stig, Rooo, Teddy,
Erin, CareBear and Visa.
Our cats are
essentially indoor cats but they do have access to the outside world via a
cat flap into a tunnel and out into a run. They come and go when they
please day or night, rain or sun, it makes no difference, they just love
the best of both worlds. For us this is the most relaxing way to enjoy our
animals. I couldn't imagine having someone come to my door to inform me
that one of my cats had been hit by a car, attacked by a dog or worse!
That does not mean I stand in judgement of anyone who doesn't, its
just 'my choice'. See photos of our outside run
